Sterling Alley’s Sawmill in Garden Valley Idaho – 20”w by 14½”h print

Product Information

sawmillSterling Alley was a mountain man living in Garden Valley, Idaho. He enjoyed a high status and respect in the community. He owned a saw mill with an old pickup sitting out in the field. While living alone in Garden Valley, I commuted to Boise each day to work for over five years. On several weekends I would go to his saw mill and he gave me wood shavings that I placed in a can with kerosene for a fire starter for my wood stove.

I took a series of photos in 96 degrees HOT weather to study for this painting and decided to paint it as a snow scene…this is my first pick-up to paint!
